Why Choose Envelope

A new roof is a significant investment. We plan every installation carefully, supervise all work through our LBP, and document everything. We work with architects, builders, and property owners across Auckland.

Our lead tradesperson holds a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) licence with areas of practice in Metal Tile Roof and Profiled Metal Roof and/or Wall Cladding — as required under the Building Act 2004 for restricted building work on residential properties.

Our Areas of Practice

  • Metal tile roofing — compressed metal tile systems
  • Profiled metal roofing — long-run steel, corrugate, and ribbed metal roof and wall cladding
  • Membrane roofing — flat and low-slope systems

What’s Included

  • Pre-installation site assessment and planning
  • Installation by or under supervision of a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP)
  • Full compliance with NZ Building Code (E2/AS1, B2) and Roofing Code of Practice

  • Producer Statement PS3 issued at handover — confirming compliance with NZ Building Code; available for CCC applications and principal contractor records

For Architects & Builders

We work closely with architects and main contractors on new build and alteration projects throughout Auckland. We understand the demands of a construction programme and the documentation requirements of a principal contractor.

What we bring to your project:

  • Full technical documentation and specification compliance (E2/AS1, B2, Roofing COP)
  • LBP supervision and written sign-off for all restricted building work
  • H&S plans (SSSP, SWMS) formatted for principal contractor requirements
  • Coordination with scaffolding and other sub-trades
  • Post-completion reports suitable for Code Compliance Certificate applications
  • Responsiveness to programme changes and site conditions

Warranty & Compliance

Workmanship warranty terms — typically ranging from 5 to 10 years depending on system type, substrate condition, and material selection — are confirmed in writing before work commences. Warranty terms are project-specific.

All installations comply with NZ Building Code (E2/AS1, B2) and the NZ Roofing Code of Practice. Building consent requirements vary by project and are assessed at consultation.

Solar-Ready Installation

We install with solar in mind. For clients who want the option to add solar panels in future — without disrupting the roof — we can factor solar readiness into the installation from day one.

This means thinking carefully about roof orientation and pitch, ensuring the roofing system and substrate can accommodate panel fixings without compromising weathertightness, positioning penetrations and cable runs in the right locations, and selecting profiles and fixing methods that allow for clean solar integration later.

It costs very little to do this upfront. Retrofitting solar to a roof that wasn’t designed for it is significantly more expensive — and in some cases requires re-roofing work to fix penetration and fixings done incorrectly.

If solar is on your horizon, tell us at consultation. We’ll confirm what’s practical for your roof and build it into the installation scope.
