What Roof Restoration Involves
Roof restoration is the process of returning an existing roof to a sound, weathertight condition and applying a protective coating to extend its service life. It is a lower-cost alternative to full re-roofing when the roof substrate remains structurally sound.
- Cleaning — removal of moss, lichen, debris and loose surface material
- Repointing and rebedding — re-securing ridge caps and hips
- Fastener replacement — replacing corroded or failed fixings
- Resealing — flashing, penetration and seam resealing to restore weathertightness
- Protective recoating — application of a roof coating or paint system suited to the roof type
When Restoration Makes Sense
Restoration is the right option when the roof covering is still structurally sound but its protective coating has failed, fasteners are degrading, or sealant joints are failing — the early to mid stages of a roof’s deterioration.
- Surface rust or coating breakdown on an otherwise sound roof
- Failing sealant at flashings, penetrations or seams
- Moss and lichen accumulation accelerating coating degradation
- A roof approaching mid-life that you want to protect, not replace
If the roof substrate itself is perforated, extensively corroded, or structurally compromised, restoration will not be appropriate — we will tell you if re-roofing is the better investment rather than coating over a failing roof.
A restored roof typically costs a fraction of a full re-roof, while adding years of service life.
Restoration is not a substitute for replacement where the roof covering has reached the end of its structural life. We assess honestly and recommend replacement where restoration would be a false economy.

Coating systems are applied per manufacturer specification, and coating warranties are those provided by the manufacturer and passed through to you. Our workmanship is warranted in line with our standard Terms of Trade.
